I'm moving

I'm going to start this blog the same way I started my Japan blog.  First post is always difficult.

Since college, I have made four or five moves in support of my professional life. The first was from Kalamazoo to the east side of Dearborn, then Dearborn to Chicago, Chicago to Seattle and most recently Seattle to Nagoya. I can remember when I moved to Chicago, I was so excited about everything. When I learned I was going to be living on the corner of Ohio and Dearborn St., I spent hours reading everything I could about that part of the city. I was even excited there was a Whole Foods Market a few blocks north, although I only went there once or twice to see what's up. When I moved to Seattle, it was to quick to even think about it, I just showed up and found Renton.  When I moved to Japan, I made the error of thinking Nagoya was actually Nagano, again not much planning.

Now, I'm making a jump over the Atlantic to live in Grottalige (~TBD) for 6 months to one years. I feel the same excitement for this move that I felt for Seattle and Nagoya. But I'm having a much more difficult time reading mundane details like where is the market, because this area of Italy lacks webpages or any information in English!

To get an idea how crazy this move was, March 10th I left Japan and after a short layover in Seattle I was in Italy two weeks later.  My first few months here will be living in-and-out of hotels, but I hope to get an apartment soon.  When I moved from Seattle to Japan, I needed to pack up all my belongings and put it in storage.  I also had to get rid of my car.  The move from Japan I had to get rid of mostly everything I had and have movers pack up the remaining 300 pounds of things.  Now everything the movers in Japan pack up is in storage somewhere in Italy waiting for me to get an apartment... What a mess!

I'm setting up this spelling error blog for my family and friends. But please feel free to follow me on this trip. As soon as I find an apartment, if anyone would like to visit Italy, please feel free to crash at my place.

Welcome to Mediterranean Central.
